Gilded Pumpkin Christmas Decorations

STOP! Don't throw away those pumpkins just yet!

 I buy and grow lots of pumpkins for halloween and its always sad when the fun is over and the pumpkins are put to waste. But I've found the perfect way to celebrate them for another two months by decorating them and using them to decorate our home for Christmas. These would work great for Thanksgiving but as we are British/Kiwi we don't celebrate it although I wish we did!

This is so simple that it barely needs an explanation. Get your self some gold paint from a craft shop. I use the spray can variety because its less of a mass and so much quicker however a paint on version would work just fine.

Wash and dry your pumpkins. I use kitchen paper to dry to really ensure that all of the moisture is off the pumpkin. Any left behind can ruin the paint effect. Then spray the pumpkins and leave to dry. They keep for a couple of months if you have prepared them properly.

They are great as part of a table centrepiece or in bowls around the house.
